Transducers Direct recently released the TDWLB-DL wireless pressure & temperature data logging sensor and it’s proving effective in an incredibly wide variety of applications and industries. Originally developed as a tool for HVAC /R technicians to diagnose issues with problem air conditioning units, the sensor is now being used in applications that include:

The TDWLB-DL sensor is a flexible and powerful wireless sensor offering incredibly long battery life, typically 24-36 months. Utilizing Transducers Direct’s free Apple or Android App, the user can quickly and easily set up the data logging session. This includes the ability to set an adjustable sampling rate anywhere from 50ms to 1 hour, data log for pressure or temperature or both, and set the data logging session to run in “Fill Until Full” or “FIFO” mode. Since the data is stored in the sensor, the user can start the session and walk away. When the session is complete, the user can view the data in the App, trend the data, save the data on the smart device, and even email the data in a spreadsheet format wherever he chooses. The TDWLB-DL looks like a good tool for energy auditing, specifically in compressed air and other places where gauge pressure is the issue instead of differential pressure.
However, since these don’t show excite power and don’t explain the power requirements, how do we anticipate life span in especially fast-sampling applications <5 seconds? 24-36 months typical sounds great honestly if it was true for all sampling rates.
